All BostonSight SCLERAL lenses are designed with SmartSight front surface eccentricity (FSE) values. SmartSight provides superior quantitative and qualitative vision and is available in three options. FSE1 is the standard value. In general, when dealing with an irregular cornea, if the FSE1 value is not providing the best visual outcome, we recommend starting off with the FSE2 before trying FSE0. And when dealing with a regular cornea, i.e. DES, we recommend starting with the FSE0 before trying FSE2.

For correction of more challenging aberrations, we suggest SmartSight HOA technology for custom HOA correction. SmartSight HOA works by scanning the patient’s eye while wearing their final BostonSight SCLERAL fit lens.  Your aberrometer determines residual HOAs, and the wavefront data is then exported to BostonSight’s FitConnect® lens design software. Once the order is finalized in FitConnect, the data is automatically transferred to our lathe for manufacturing.  All orders incorporating HOA design will incur a one-time additional fee per lens.
